In the past, before the days of Internet, the 55 Squadron Association Hon. Sec. used to keep the association members in touch by post. The Spearpoint was a Roneo printed news sheet originally, slowly gathered more sides and finally acquired colour as a professionally printed booklet.
Initially printing administrative news, the Spearpoint later printed war and other stories submitted by members - some of which are priceless. As 223 Squadron didn't have an association and as the two squadrons had been through thick and thin together, its ex-members were often included in - and sent - the Spearpoint. As of Feb 1967 (Spearpoint number 69) the association officially included 223 Squadron ex-members.
The available Spearpoints in booklet form, from 1983 to 2013 - will appear here as they are gradually scanned in. If you have any older copies, please send me a good quality scan for the site. Thanks. I will start the ball with my own rather ragged personal Spearpoint news-sheet from 1972. Fair copy follows. After number 46, the cover and the back page are scanned together for convenience. So sometimes you may find the conclusion of a story further up...
